This story is a few months old, I shared it originally on my Facebook profile, but I felt it would be suited nicely here as well since my Facebook is private.

This morning I went to the Commissary (Military grocery store) with Laura.Towards the end of my shopping trip I met a lady with her 16 month old little boy. The little boy was walking around near his moms shopping cart because he didn’t want to sit in the shopping cart.We talked for a little bit about that struggle (babies/toddlers not wanting to stay in the cart), talked about baby carriers, then I showed her my Tula (babycarrier) that I try to keep in my bag just in case Laura has a melt down while on our shopping trip. Because had it been Laura and I let her out of the shopping cart, she woud have turned the other way and never looked back for me, haha! Her son was very well behaved from what I could see.

Anyhow, we parted ways shortly after, and as I am walking up the aisle to retrieve 2 items I’d forgotten, I hear her son having a melt down and she’s in the checkout line (if you’ve ever been inside the commissary you know how tight squeezed those lines can be). I know if it were me in that situation… And I have been in that position before, I would want someone to reach out to me.

So, I walked beside her and asked her if she’d like to try on my baby carrier? Maybe that would help sooth her son enough to finish out her shopping trip ( because all babies love snuggles). She gladly accepted, so I helped her put her son in a front carrying position and her son calmed down real quick. Babywearing for the win! I went to retrieve my last items, got in line, and my new friend and I checked out at the same time.

As I’m helping her take off the Tula, she graciously thanked me again and we said our goodbyes and parted ways again. I’m sharing this story not to get a pat on the back, but to encourage you.
IF YOU SEE A PERSON IN NEED, MEET THEIR NEED. I remember sitting in church and listening to my pastor say many times, “if you see a need, meet that need”. If there is something you can do for someone, do it. And at that moment I saw a flustered mommy who just needed enough of a break to finish out her shopping trip. She just needed a slight break to get her shopping done. I have been that mommy trying to ‘shhh’ my baby while avoiding the stares of onlookers. This life is hard and we need each other! ✌?️ Be that salt and light that Jesus called you to be, go forth, encourage each other and spread the love of Christ!

1 Thessalonians 5:11- Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
