So, my family and I are currently living out of a hotel and we will be here for almost a month….Now, I can either grunt and cry about how unfair it is that we are living out of a hotel with our absolute bare necessities, or I can tun my frown upside down. As my Pastor always says, “Attitude determines altitude” which is so true. So, with that being said, I’ve decided to write a nice little list (in no particular order) highlighting the pros of living out of a hotel during our PCS move.

The pros go hotel living: during a pcs move

Continental breakfast:
Ahh, the complimentary breakfasts have been my favorite since I was a little girl. My eyes light up when I walk down to get my ‘complimentary’ breakfast. Everything is usually organized in such a tasteful manner that it makes it very difficult for me to chose a meal because everything looks good; Cereals, oatmeal, muffins, bagels, and fruits on one side, with beverages on another side, and if you’re lucky a hot breakfast of waffles, pancakes, or eggs. Unfortunately the hotel we are currently staying at does not have complimentary breakfast. In fact, a lot of the hotels in our TLA price range, that allow dogs, do not. ::cue my tears::.

Free housekeeping:
Well, not exactly free, but you know what I mean.Aside from the amazing complimentary breakfast (if you’re lucky enough to be in a hotel that provides it) the housing keeping service is the best! When I was a kid traveling with my family I didn’t even notice housekeeping, but now I do and I appreciate it so much!
Bed-making: They will make your bed EVERY MORNING! They will also strip your bedsheets and put fresh ones on. Does anybody really like stripping and putting new sheets on?
Lighter Laundry Load: We do our laundry on site, thankfully our hotel has 2 washers and two dryers, we do have to pay for it…but its not like I haven’t been going to the laundry mat for the past 3 months. Because housekeeping will take your dirty towels and bedsheets, it makes doing laundry sooo much lighter and I actually am able to wash, dry, and put away the clothes in one day. Never thought Id say that!

Icky garbage. Hate having to take out the trash, no worries because housekeeping will take it for you.
-Temperature control: My husband and I differ greatly when it comes to what is an acceptable temperate for the thermostat, I like it more on the warmer side and my husband, well, if he had it his way it would probably be snowing in our house. I don’t like setting the thermostat too low your home. But, when you’re in a hotel you don’t have worry about that so much. But, still be mindful of your electrical consumption.

-The amenities: Depending on your hotel, the amenities can be pretty rockin’! Our hotel isn’t anything very fancy, but we do have a fitness room, laundry facilities, a gift shop, a pool, dog park, and a little computer area where you can print out documents. Our last hotel had mandatory valet parking, it made us feel VERY fancy!

With all that being said, please don’t take advantage of housekeeping. I say this in the sense of, it is not necessary for housekeeping to strip and put new sheets on your bed EVERY. single. morning. just because you’re staying in a hotel. Be considerate and mindful, as you would in your own home.

Happy PCS-ing season!
